ARP extended studs for the GR86
Переглядів 592Рік тому
When using a 255/40R-17 tire with the WedsSport TC105X 17x9 46 wheels up front you will need a 5mm spacer when using stock suspension as the lower spring seat & coil spring will touch the tire! Along with the spacer, extended studs are required as stock length wheel studs will not provide enough safe thread engagement. We detail the install of these ARP 2.5" extended studs as they are also much...

A great video. Any comments on handling characteristics? Any noticeable difference?
@leestevenwj handles pretty much like stock as the car is just lowered a bit. No huge difference other than having issues lowered cars have such as scraping on dips and occasional tire rubs with bumps on the highway. Car still drives anywhere I need to go. it just looks better getting there
@@RylisPro Thank you. All the Japanese reviews (not just that hot version video) describe these springs as being a gift from automotive gods. Great videos by the way. Uniquely funny.
@leestevenwj thanks for watching!
This why I only buy Holley products when there getting blown out on clearance... Those bells where cheaper then both m lead and Lakewood when release until the company got bought out, then they jacked the prices ever since 😂
i wanted to see you bite into it mate
did you get any rubbing when turning at full lock in the front with the control arm (before adding the spacers)?
@ivanch9120 I got extreme rubbing before spacers haha! Rubbed on the spring shelf of the stock shock. 15mm spacers fixed the issue
Remember to tighten the gas lens down and take the back cap off before tightening down the gas lens and the gas flow if working with CFH should be the cup size so Fupa is a #12 CFH is size x2 so 12x2 = 24cfh tungsten stick out should be no more than the size of the cup orifice Also that looks like mild steel filler cause the copper coating
Love the story. Thanks for your service best thing you ever got is that cuda. I got my 73 cuda in 1989 and still have it 😊
Too expensive to ship to New Zealand
Too close to the front wall. That would be a very tight space for pulling and engine.
@shanekerr6065 we drop all of our engines from the bottom. Unbolt the engine mounts and lift the body straight up. Plenty of room haha!
does this kit work with oem electronical throttle body?also what about the oem cluster?

Military you say, thank you for your service, my Dad 36 years Air Force, 30 years DOD QA, and me USMC Vet, Air Force Civ, DOD, NGA, Andrews AFB, MD, (I had to leave due to MS). @duanebogan3836 thank you for you & your Father's service!
Any idea what the spring rates are on these springs?
@msayre91 I had asked HAL springs for the spring rates but they never replied to my email? On the best motoring video they state the springs are 3K & 5K supposedly. The springs have settled even lower & now are a 1 finger gap instead of 2 haha! Thanks!
@@RylisPro I emailed Grow Motorsports and actually got a reply. They said they couldn’t release that information.
@@msayre91 I wonder why all the secrecy as they are just lowering springs for the street? Haha
@@RylisPro I have no idea, without knowing the spring rates, I’m not going to buy them. So they lost a customer
Hello did you have to cut a hole out for the level sensor
@@RylisPro if you don’t mind me asking how did you do it
@traejudd4584 whoops my bad I previously gave you wrong info! The fuel level sensor is integrated within the oval fill plate so you don't need to cut any other holes for the fuel level sensor. I had mistakenly thought the foam was in blocks & the need to cut a hole, as it has been years since I did this replacement. My apologies!
Nice job buddy! Question, how many welds total and how long did this take you to do this! Want to try it myself 😊
@mighty054 about a couple of days to do all the corners & butt welds. This 2x2 square tubing was tricky to weld because even though I cleaned thoroughly, i still had porosity on some spots haha!
Excellent video!!!!!
@@miguelm3676 thanks for watching!
Hi, any updates about the Grow spring on your GR86?? i am thinking to get one too and i read from their page they said its getting 10mm - 30mm lower, does that mean i can adjust the height??
@alanluk673 there are spacers available but I felt that I don't need them. The 30mm drop is the perfect look and handles just fine for my needs, no issues at all whatsoever!
@@RylisPro what i am worry about is i am gonna put the areo kit from Max Orido too, just worry it will kill the front lips
@alanluk673 oh yes the 30mm drop will destroy front lips. I already damaged my first lip as I wasn't used to being that low in the GR86 on a driveway with a dip. I bought & installed a 2nd & have a 3rd lip as well just in case haha!
Hows the ratchet holding up? :) i got the proto 5450xlqr usa y and it looks beautiful, just really hoping it'll hold up for the price 😅😂
@ybloc1428 ratchet works great has never let me down!
what's wrong about it being made in Taiwan?
@@AdeptusSkibidicus I just personally prefer things made in Japan such as the R5. The batteries are Chinese as well, but everything works as it should. thanks!
Great vid bro, I can't seem to find this exact spec of wheel tho?
@hw9259 with 2° camber on all four wheels I ended up using 15mm spacers in the front. Here is the link: speedfreaksusa.com/i-23904420-wedssport-tc105x-17x9-46-2022-gr86-brz-specific-5x100.html
im doing a 2007 hemi swap on a coronet and am using a built 904 transmission with this starter bolt on to the trans and work on the flywheel?
Sorry, I have no clue? I don't work on automatics
Best unit money can bye..i have the same unit but the 705 pump..love it. For my home garage! It runs quite..
I own fireball & Genuine they both have their place !
I used 3.3 ohm resistors but I'm having issues with the airbag not turning off any tips?
The 3.3 ohm resistors should be pretty straightforward. Either the contacts are not completely touching, the resistor may need to be flipped around or you have a bad resistor
Do you think you will post a video showing the actual installation and attachment with your seats? That would be helpful!
It'll be a while until I work on the Challenger seats, but until then my Racetech seat install in the GR86 video has similar results thanks!
What offset are you using on rims?
It depends on a lot of different factors like which brake setup I'm using. I typically use a deep offset wheel & various spacers to get the measurements just right before buying my custom wheels. Thanks!
Hey great video! I have Bride seats installed on my GR86 and was wondering if you sold seatbelt extensions separately? That way they could be ran through the side openings for easy buckling using the stock seatbelts. Or could recommend some sold elsewhere. Thank you in advance for any help!
They are free from Ford or Toyota
@@RylisPro oh wow I didn’t know that, that’s cool! Thank you for the info.
Is there a third party battery grip that is close to build quality that does not give you a battery communication error that anyone can suggest or should I fork out the $350 for the Canon version.
Have you tried to mount it vertical?
I actually returned the manual bender due to space constraints & exchanged it for a JMR hydraulic bender instead as you can mount one sideways on their fabrication tables that are easily movable. Thanks!
@@RylisPro Thanks, so vertical is not possible? I have a hydro coming too.
@@GotScout I never tried vertical though so wouldn't know? Horizontal works well enough for me haha!
@@RylisPro Hey so I just used mine, and it blew out! Is there a direct contact to connect with you on? Also, do you have a direct to Jim or Michelle, as the guy I got was less than ideal. Thanks!

Nice looking car!
Thank you! Needs paint haha!
Love it, we're building a 70challenger with a 540 hemi. Would we be able to fit this under there with an air filter?
Nice! Depends on how high the intake sits. You can always use a short round air filter with a flow through top.
that dead pan delivery has me rolling 😂😂
I always try to put out my best efforts haha thanks!
Dont even have a gr86 but the Chrysler heads is a great recommendation1
Mopar heads always have the best flow haha!
Love how it went from funny to straight to business. Been researching lowering springs...I feel RSR super downs are way too aggresive as I only wanted a two finger gap but then I'm worried the RSR down won't be enough. These look good too!
Love these Grow x HAL springs! They went up in price a bit, but can't go wrong with them.
It’s unfortunate that none of them fancy electronics are made in US coz US can only produce stupid people who are proud of being American for silly reasons 😂

Fireball squares are better.
They're also way more expensive
They should offer both versions the U and the A it's not like they don't already have the tooling. I was watching your videos with some confusion then I realized I have the U version. Not running 315's up front anyway but I am glad I have the older version.
The older version is the best one. Look under any race car from any make or model. None of them will have upper control arms with gigantic hexes that limit wheel size or the ability to turn lock to lock. The engineer that designed these so called "improvements" on the Hotchkis 1110U-A is a moron
@@RylisPro Yeah it wasn't very smart especially considering these are primarily aimed at road racers where you want as much meat as you can get under there. Question for you. What are you running for a steering box? I have a Firm Feel power box on my 72 Challenger and it has an annoying dead spot in the center. I was wondering if swapping out to one of the Borgeson units I see videos on, would be an improvement over the Firm Feel. Thanks in advance!
@@GearHead4Lyfe the Cuda has a Firm Feel stage 2 box & has that horrible slop as well. I read that since both the stock box & Borgeson are worm gear driven, they will always have the slop/numbness issues over time. Many guys like their Borgeson box though. Unless someone makes a dedicated bulletproof rack & pinion for old Mopars, I'm just going to install a FF stage 3 box into the Challenger build. Thanks!
@RylisPro thanks for the info! I was worried the Borgeson would wind up doing the same over time. I mean, aside from that little dead zone the car handles like a monster. But when I go from my 72 restomod to my blown 11 Srt8 I find myself oversteering lol The QA1 coil over sub frame with rack would be nice but 5+ grand it'll have to be a future project....
Why does the hitch kiss bracket change the anti dive location on the front facing mount?
Any updates on the ride quality now that it's been a bit since you've installed the springs?
No issues so far & the GR86 rides pretty much exactly the same! I just have to be careful of driveways & not destroying my second front lip. I really like the looks of these HAL springs on 17's as the wheel gap was too wide on stocks springs. I'm glad I got them!
Nein nein nein! Looks good 👍🏻
125 lbs ? Absolutely not! Maybe 60 - 70 lbs. And that handle Maybe 5/8 " diameter.
Haha this isn't a 70 lbs vise my good sir... I used to do bench presses with 70 lbs barbells & this vise feels much heavier. You're probably right about the handle, I'll go measure it one day. Thanks!

There are plenty of Ebody groups on Facebook that would have better opinions on restomods & I would put up the photos on there to get a wider range of people to gauge the value of the car thanks!
How much do you think a well sorted out restomod would sell for . Ranges ? I found one with amazing paint and fully restored paint and interior for 35? Is that a good deal . It’s not original Hemi Cuda but it’s my First classic car I am looking to buy so I don’t know what’s a good deal .
It would would depend on a lot of factors just as what engine/transmission combo is installed, what model year it is, too many variables to say for an accurate number

@@RylisPro yup it sure is

Squares up just fine. My steel pallets wouldn't come out awesome without these Genuine Metal Works squares. Thanks!
Why are they junk lmfao just because you can't put big tires on your car ???? Where on Hotchkis website does it say those are for wide 10.5" & 315 tires up front ???? Because it doesn't say that on their site all those are for are for to correct the excessive caster gain and create the proper negative camber curve. If you want to be able to put 10.5" wide wheels & 315 tires up front you need to go with a frame setup from Roadstershop
